Chequers adopts next-gen antimicrobial cleaning product

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, we are delighted to have partnered with Nordic Chem to use a revolutionary antimicrobial cleaning product.

The water-based cleaner forms a long-term antimicrobial coating and is designed to inhibit the growth of microorganisms for up to 90 days after application. It can be applied to almost any surface and has been tested against a wide range of bacteria and viruses.

How it works

The coating can be applied to and bonds with almost any surface. Once dried, it forms an invisible layer of “nanospikes”. Simply put, the spikes extend out from the protected surface and pierce the cell membrane of any bacteria or virus that comes into contact with the surface.

Using a water-based solution has a range of benefits – it is non-flammable; no solvents are required for dilution; no special handling is required; and they have a long shelf-life. The coating can be applied by hand, or by fogging to cover a larger area.

Sustainable and effective

The coatings contain no VOC, heavy metals, formaldehyde treatment, phenol groups, or odour causing agents.

The active ingredient has been used for more than 20 years and is registered with the European Chemicals Agency for use in almost all locations and surfaces.

We will place awareness certificates in any sites where we have used the product. This gives peace of mind to building occupants, and the application date serves as a reminder to our cleaning operatives of when a new coating needs to be applied.

Next steps

The coating will be available to all current and prospective Chequers customers. It will be applied by our specially trained team who have all been trained on the correct use of the equipment and effective use of the product.

The antimicrobial cleaner forms just one part of our approach to ensuring that all sites have the highest possible cleanliness and hygiene standards. More information about our health and safety approach and accreditations is available online.
