Chequers helps out with jubilee tree planting project

We are delighted that our grounds maintenance team has been able to help with the planting of a maple tree as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy project.

The tree planting initiative has been created to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and invites people from across the UK to ‘Plant A Tree For The Jubilee’.

We worked with housing association One Housing to prepare the grounds and plant the tree at Protheroe House care and support site, in Chestnut Road, Tottenham, London.

James Bradley, Churchill Group’s chief operating officer and Naomi Childe, our director of grounds and landscaping, attended the ceremony, during which a plaque was unveiled by the deputy lieutenant for Haringey, Captain Peter Baker.

Captain Baker also received a gift of origami flowers made by Protheroe House residents, with the help of students from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, which will be given to the Queen.

Naomi said: ‘We were very happy to get involved in the Queen’s Green Canopy project and this is a great example of partnership working with our customer and supporting a great cause, as well as helping out the residents of Protheroe House.’
